The Bermuda Maritime Museum Association

The Bermuda Maritime Museum Association is a non-profit organization incorporated by statute, whose sole purpose is the development and operation of a maritime museum in the Keep Yard of the former Royal Naval Dockyard on Ireland Island, Bermuda.

The Museum serves as a public service institution dedicated to the protection, collection, preservation, restoration, maintenance and exhibition of artifacts with some significance to Bermuda’s maritime history. In order to implement these aims, programmes of documentation, education and interpretation are being actively pursued, and a reference, library is being formed on the mezzanine of the Forster Cooper building.

Conceived by the Bermuda National Trust, the Association has been a separate entity from its founding in August 1974, in order to acquire its own collection and to raise its own funds. Apart from the admission fees, all the museum’s revenue is voluntary – membership dues, capital donations, and gate receipts from special events. The Bermuda Government has never been asked for a grant, nor has made one.

Association Membership allows those interested in preserving our maritime heritage the means of participating, while providing unlimited free admission to the Museum and the privilege of purchasing guest tickets at a reduced rate, together with a copy of the newsletter RATLINES. Several kinds of memberships are available: Click here for more information.
